Privacy

Collect what the newsroom needs. Keep the rest private.

Newsletter

Newsletter registration stores your email address, consent time and wording, signup page, subscription status, and a private unsubscribe token. It does not collect your IP address. The address is kept in the The People News list and is not shared with other network newsletters.

News submissions

A submission stores the report or event details, location, source link, public byline, private contact email, consent time, and editorial status. Contact email is used for verification and editorial questions and is not displayed in the public news feed.

Location

The site may remember the city, county, or ZIP code you enter in your browser so it can restore your local edition. It is not transmitted until the site requests matching published reports. Location lookups are processed through our newsroom service and cached so repeated searches do not repeatedly contact the geocoder. The hierarchy uses OpenStreetMap data under its attribution terms.

Your choices

Every newsletter message must provide an unsubscribe link. You may also request correction or removal of personal information in a community submission by identifying the relevant page or submission.
